THE LITTLE RED HEN

Scene 1

Narrator: This is the Little Red Hen. She  lives on the farm and she’s got some friends: the cow, the pig, the dog, the horse, the sheep...  One day, the Little Red Hen found a sack of  wheat seeds and  ran to tell her friends. Perhaps they would help her to plant the seeds.

Little Red Hen: Cow, will you help me plant my seeds?

Cow: Not I, not I. It’s too hot to do that work.

LRH: Pig, will you help me plant my seeds?

Pig: Not I, not I. It’s too hot to do that work.

LRH: Dog, will you help me plant my seeds?

Dog: Not I, not I. It’s too hot to do that work.

Narrator: So the little Red Hen planted the seeds.

 

Scene 2

Narrator: Some weeks went by and the seeds began to grow. The Little Red Hen asked her friends to help her tend and weed the garden. (She takes a .........

LRH: Horse, will you help me weed  the garden?

Horse: Not I, not I. The shade is too cool to leave.

LRH: Cow, will you help me weed the garden?

Cow: Not I, not I. The shade is too cool to leave.

LRH: Sheep, will you help me weed the garden 

Sheep: Not I, not I. The shade is too cool to leave.

Narrator: So the little Red Hen  weeded and tended the garden.

 

Scene 3

Narrator: The weeks went by. The sun ripened the wheat until it was ready to harvest. The Little Red Hen asked her friends to help her harvest the wheat.

LRH: Pig, will you help me harvest the wheat?

Pig: Not I, not I. It is too hot today.

LRH: Dog, will you help me harvest the wheat>?

Dog: Will you help me harvest the wheat?

LRH: Horse, will you help me harvest the wheat?

Horse: Not I, not I. It’s too hot today.

Narrator: Once again, the Little Red Hen had to do all the work. She haarvested the wheat. When she finished, she asked her friends  to help her grind the wheat into flour.

LRH: Cow, will you help me grind the wheat  into flour?

Cow: Not I, not I. It’s too close to milking time.

LRH: Sheep, will you help me grind the wheat into flour?

Sheep: Not I, not I. It’s too close to milking time.

LRH: Dog, will you help me grind the wheat into flour?

Dog: Not I, not I. It?s too close to dinner time.

Narrator: So the Little Red Hen ground the wheat into flour.

 

Scene 4 . The next day

Narrator: The Little Red Hen wanted to  bake her flour into bread. She decided to ask her friends to help her.

LRH: Cow, will you help me bake this flour to make bread?

Cow: Not I, not I. It’s too hot to bake

LRH: Pig, will you help me bake this flour to make bread?

Pig: Not I, not I. It’s too hot to bake.

LRH: Sheep, will you help me bake this flour to make bread?

Sheep: Not I, not I. It’s too hot to bake.

Narrator: The Little Red Hen baked the bread . When it was done, she let it cool for a while. Then she took a knife to cut and eat the bread. Looking around, she didn’t see anyone

LRH: Hum, I wonder who will help me eat this bread.?

Cow, Pig, Horse, sheep, dog, (rushing up) :  I will!

LRH: No, you won’t. I did all the work. You didn’t help me. I’ll eat the bread.

( All the  animals  hang their heads)
