Fights continue during the first decade of the XIX century, so in 1805 the ' Buena Dicha' and 'Liebre' capture English ships.
In 1808 the Spanish people fight against the French one and the General
Franchesi appropriates
the fortress in Monte Real. However, the neibourghs of Baiona
together with people from the villages nearby play an important role in the
Reconquest of Vigo.
Baiona becomes a small fishing village, without any important industry; too, the Fortress looses its strategic value and so, in 1872 the Administration decides to publicly auction it.
