ST. JAMES WAY

 

Saint or Jacobean Year is that one when St James Day (July 25th) is on Sunday.
To make St James way you can choose between these routes: French Way, Aragones Way, Ebro Route, North Way or Silver Route.
The pilgrims credential is a document only given to those who make the way on foot, by bike or on a horse and it´s necessary to be lodged in Pilgrim Hostels.
The Compostelan is a document that certifies that the Way has been made in pilgrimage and at least you must have walked 100 kms, have ridden 200 kms before you get to Santiago
.

 

RURAL TOURISM

 

Rural tourism is a multisectorial activity which requires the concorrence of diverse productive area and public and private sectors to provide the goods and services used by tourists; it has no clearly determined limits.


Regulations concerning Rural Tourism

The Order of 2nd June 1995 governed the regulation of rural tourism establishments. These ara grouped into 3 categories, A, B and C, according to their construction characteristics and architectural merit.


Group A:

It includes buildings such as pazos (stately homes) castles, monasteries, manors, rectories and other buildings recognized by their singular characteristics and architectural value by the appropiate authorities of the Galician Autonomous Community.

Group B:

It includes houses in rural villages whose age and construction characteristics make them typical of Galician rural architecture.

Group C:

This group is of farmhouses, defined as houses located in a rural enviroment and with rooms for the accommodation of guests, who may take part in the farming activities taking place there. This kind of holiday is named agrotourism.


Establishments in groups A and B may be divided into the following categories:


A- Hospedería (Bed and breakfast), where the owner and his family share the use of the house with an area set aside for guests run as a family business with a minimum service of half board.

B- Residencia (Hostel), where customers have exclusive use of the facilities or share the house with the owners and services. They do not reach the minimum of half-board.

EL BARCO DE VALDEORRRAS

El Barco de Valedoras is a village of 9000 inhabitants in Ourense province. It´s a minery city well-known by its slate ferries. It was called in another time, Aldeorras due to the gold that the river Sil took.

VERÍN

Verín is a central village in the shire of Monterrey, situated in the South of the province of Ourense, in 525 national road near Portugal. Its extension is 93,3 km2 and has got 12003 inhabitants.
This is a village which is famous for the different natural water creeks which can be found there, Monterrey castle (see picture) and his national famous carnavals.

ALLARIZ

Allariz is situated in Ourense and it has lots of walls and old monuments such as the castle of the four towers.

MANZANEDA

Manzaneda is in Ourense and in it we could outstand its mountaineous landscapes and the ski resort where you can practise lots of sports.
