A museum does not have to be in a building as big as the NEW YORK METROPOLITAN. It is a museum's funtion to store and exhibit interesting items. You can do this in your classroom, bedroom or even in a shoebox.

A museum does not have to be full of expensive objects, many contain things that were found and cost nothing at all. Think about what you are interested in and what might interest other people. Your museum could be a collection of postage stamps, stones or postcards. Whatever it is that you bring could be in your first exhibition.

Once you have decided where your PERSONAL MUSEUM will be and what will be in it, follow these steps:

1. You need a SIGN to tell people about your museum:

the _________MUSEUM OF __________

Established in __________

2. Everything in your museum needs a provenance card to explain what it is:

item no._________

Description:_______________________________

Where found_______________ and date ___________

3. Other items you might need are:

Admission tickets

Signs: Timetable, "Sorry, the museum is closed today"...
