Literary Award “ARCEBISPO JUAN DE SAN CLEMENTE”
The Literary Award “ARCEBISPO JUAN DE SAN CLEMENTE” has 3 different categories: the best novel written in Galician (our own language), the best novel written in Spanish, and the best novel written in a foreign language and translated into Spanish or Galician. There are 3 juries, one for each category. Each jury consists of 10 students in their final year of high school.The students are from our school and from other 4 schools in Galicia (one for each province). This guarantees a totally independent and very enthusiastic jury. They choose the best novel from a selection of three.
The award-giving day is a festive occasion on which both the students and the authors are the main characters. It is undoubtedly an unforgettable day for the students who can enjoy being with the authors of the books they have chosen as the best novels of the year.
Among the writers awarded in previous editions we are proud to have had with us some world renowned authors: Vargas Llosa,Tarik Ali, Javier Marias, Tabucchi, Saramago, Baricco, Paul Auster, Amélie Nothomb, Carlos Fuentes, Jostein Gaarder, Eugenides, Almudena Grandes, Mazzucco, Cercas, Jehoshua, Pombo, Gaite.., and all of them visited our school to receive the prize.
