Everybody
in the world understands that it's important to speak other languages,
specially English language.The linguistic specialists say that it's
better to learn a language when you are younger. So we start to teach English
at the age of three years old.
In
our school we have a specific classroom for teaching English. Here pupils can
use different material according to the activities we make.
The
classroom is distributed in several working areas.Besides the conventional
place with desks, we have an area where pupils can show their works, an Art
corner where children make handicrafts, and a place to know the British
culture (with maps,posters, leaflets,postcards,etc.)
The
flash cards,wall charts with the new words are exposed in a fix place to make
easier the acquisition of vocabulary,reinforce the elemmental structures and
memorize the common expressions.
We
have audio-visual material too, such as, cassetes including songs, chants,
poems and vocabulary for each topic, andvideotapes that show to the pupils the
British culture.; also when they listen to the tapes they are learning to
pronounce the words correctly and they express themselves clearly.
One
of the aims that we want in the English lesson is the pupils can develop the
ability to communicate in this language,starting from their previous knowledge
and develop it.
We
try,at the same time,to encourage to pupils are interested in the learning of
the English language and they can make of it a positive experience.
Other
target we try to achieve is that pupils can know some cultural and daily
aspects of Britain.
All
the children of the school, from Pr-school to Sixth of Primary ,.attend the
English classroom.Taking int account this, the activities and the pace of the
work in the classroom are very different, depending on age and the needs of
each group and each pupil, trying to establish a nice and family environment.
