      The I.E.S. María Soliño secondary school in Cangas do Morrazo - Spain - has taken part in the so-called "The popular traditions: the Carnival" Comenius project during the school period 2001-2002. Istituto Magistrale P. Villari,  Naples - Italy - and Liceul Commercial M. Kogalniceanu,  Focsani - Romania - schools have also taken part in this project. 

      So as to develop this project a material collection was carried out, as much on the part of the students as of the teachers, which was completed with the production of the following works:

The carnival in Galicia, taking as example four of the most representative manifestations

The prohibitions that this celebration suffered throughout the history on the part of the authorities.

The festival of the Carnival in the area where the school centre is located i.e. the city council of Cangas do Morrazo, more specifically that one of the parishes of O Hío and Aldán and the urban centre of Cangas, too. This information is completed with pictures of carnival times taken before 1975, also in the last 25 years and some of them taken in the school centre.

      These works were carried out in History, Classical Culture, Design, Spanish Language and Galician Language lessons by students of ESO (compulsory education) and Bacharelato (non obligatory education); the students who participate in them are also listed below with links to their respective works. 

      For the elaboration of these websites we have used pictures given by the Cultural Association A CEPA, Carlos Martínez García and other members of the carnival groups in Aldán and O Hío; apart from Suso Lorenzo and school students.
